Abstract

Ophthalmic emergencies can present across all subspecialties and demand prompt recognition and timely intervention to preserve vision and prevent life-threatening complications. This instruction course aims to equip ophthalmologists with a structured approach to evaluating acute ocular conditions across the spectrum—from red eye and sudden vision loss to trauma and postoperative emergencies. Through case-based discussions, clinical pearls, and interactive scenarios, the course will cover key red flags, triage strategies, and evidence-based management protocols. Emphasis will be placed on practical decision-making in outpatient, emergency room, and surgical settings. Designed for residents, general ophthalmologists, and early-career specialists, this session will enhance confidence and competence in managing vision-threatening emergencies with clarity and urgency.
